How can I start using the Scooter Share scooters?

  1. Download the App: To download the Lime app, simply click here and you'll automatically be redirected to the appropriate download page for your mobile device. You can also search "Lime" in both the App and Google Play stores.
  2. Find a Lime Scooter: To find a Lime near you, simply open the Lime app. You'll automatically be taken to the map screen, showing all available Lime vehicles in your area. If you don't see any vehicle icons displayed on the map, zoom out to search a wider area.
  3. Unlock the Scooter: To unlock a Lime-S scooter, simply open the Lime app and tap on the "Ride" button at the bottom of the screen. From here, either scan the QR code using your phone's camera or manually enter the 6-digit vehicle code located beneath the QR code.

How do I ride an electric scooter?

Lime offers a video on how to ride scooters here. 

After unlocking the scooter, you will need to kick it off to get the scooter moving. Once rolling you can engage the throttle by your right thumb on the handlebar to pick up speed.  There is a hand brake on the left that you use similar to a bike brake. There is also a bell on the left to alert others if you need to pass on the left.  When you're done use  the kick stand to park out of the way of other travelers (see below for where to park).  End the ride through the app so it will lock.  The scooter is now ready for the next rider! 

Where should I ride the scooters?

Keep scooter share fun and safe by riding in bicycle lanes, on City of Redmond trails, or in the roadway. Please help support Redmond as a great place to walk by avoiding riding scooters on sidewalks.

Scooters operate at much higher speeds than pedestrians and make walking uncomfortable. Please walk, instead of riding, the scooter to sidewalk parking areas.

Scooters are allowed on City of Redmond trails, including the Redmond Central Connector, Bear Creek Trail and Puget Sound Energy Trail, but not King County trails, such as the Sammamish River Trail.

How Much Does it Cost?

Lime E-Scooters are $1 to unlock and then $0.45/minute + tax.  Reduced fares are also available through the Lime Access Program to those that qualify.

Should I wear a helmet?

Yes! A helmet is an essential piece of safety equipment when riding a scooter.  Helmets may be purchased at any of our great, local bike shops or acquired, with a $10 donation, by contacting the Redmond Police at (425) 556-2525.

Where should I park the scooter when I'm done?

Ensure that the bike or scooter is parked out of the pedestrian path of travel and it is standing upright.

Do park at any of the following locations:

  1. At a bike rack
  2. In the furniture zone of the sidewalk (see green in diagram above)
  3.  In zones marked for bike and/or scooter share parking via marks on the ground and/or via information in the vendor application

Do not park bikes and scooters:

  1. In a vehicle lane, bicycle lane, or trail
  2. Within the pedestrian clear zone  (in the red zone in diagram above)
  3. In sidewalk café seating areas
  4.  Blocking Americans with Disability Act (ADA) access such as handicap parking stalls, sidewalk ramps (see red above next to crosswalk), the pedestrian clear zone, accessible pedestrian signal buttons (enable users to find and to request street crossings), or other ADA facilities
  5. Blocking use of fire hydrants, fire protection systems, benches, parking pay stations, bus stops and shelters, transit information signs, crosswalks, doorways, entryways, or driveways
  6.  In areas designated by the City as bike share no-parking areas (will also be reflected in vendor application as no-parking)
  7.  On any private property unless such property owner has granted the operator permission to locate bikes or scooters upon their private property

What is the speed limit on Redmond trails?

The speed limits on Redmond trails is 15mph, the top speed of the Lime electric scooters is 14.8 mph.  In heavily trafficked and crowded areas, we recommend going slower than the limit.  

Who do I contact if I have an issue with a scooter?

Lime is responsible for addressing issues such as parking or maintenance problems. For questions or to report an issue regarding the Lime scooters, email support@li.me  or call or text: 1-888-LIME-345.

How long is the pilot for Lime Scooters?

Lime scooters have been permitted in Redmond as a pilot program only until May 2020. During this pilot, the City will review Lime’s compliance with the permit and conduct an evaluation of the program toward the end of 2019.    The City of Redmond is seeking to learn how to make this new mobility option available in a way that minimizes negative impacts on all members of our community.  

The City’s evaluation will consider many factors – in particular, Lime’s education of scooter users about how and where to park, user compliance with parking directions, accessibility to Lime support services to remove barriers, and Lime’s ability to quickly move scooters that are parked incorrectly.  This evaluation will help the City determine whether and how to move forward with bike and scooter share after the pilot period is completed in May 2020.

Who Pays for the Operation and Management of the Scooters?

Lime is a private company and is responsible for all of the operational costs of the scooters.  The City of Redmond does not incur any costs or spend tax payer dollars on the operation of the electric scooters in Redmond.

What Happens When a Scooter is Parked Improperly?

As a condition of Lime’s permit, if Lime is contacted about a scooter that is not parked properly, then the company must relocate any mis-parked scooters within 2 hours of receiving that notification. 

If you observe a mis-parked scooter, you can: 

1) Contact Lime directly at support@li.me or call or text: 1-888-LIME-345. This option gets your notification to Lime as quickly as possible;

2) Contact Lime via the City’s Customer Service Center at this link. You can report the issue and identify a location if you wish. The City will log and automatically route your report to Lime; or

3) Move the scooter by rolling it to the proper location without needing to 'unlock it' with the app. Lime scooters are easy to move a short distance (you will hear a chirping noise as it's being moved, which will stop once the scooter is parked again).

Who Puts the Scooters Out and Moves Improperly Parked Scooters?

Lime staff pick up scooters every night to charge the scooter's battery.  Once they’re charged, the juicers set them out in the Public Right of Way, parked and ready for you to ride.

Can I Request Lime Park Scooters Near My Business or Restrict Access to My Property?

Lime invites businesses to provide feedback directly to them on locations where there may be conflicts so that they may adjust their deployment strategy.  They are also willing to
