"It's like Uber for carpooling."
Redmond Commuters Find New Carpooling Options with their Smartphone.
Scoop and Waze Carpooling have both come to Redmond-giving commuters a carpooling solution that has caught up to today's technology.
Both apps work in fundamentally the same way making the trips you are already taking more efficient by filling empty seats in the car.
How Carpooling Apps Work
- Users request or offer a ride
- Able to set different times for different days - as frequently or infrequently as you need
- Offer to drive or ride depending on your schedule
- Meet your carpool at the designated time and location
- Carpoolers are a community of colleagues and neighbors
- You'll ride together to your destination
- Can choose your home, central meeting place, or other locations (like the gym, school, or daycare) for potential pick up and drop off places
- Pay (or receive payment) through the app
- Estimate of the cost is available before booking the ride
- Amount is not enough to become a source of income for the driver
- Get to work and rate the driver or rider!
While they are essentially the same, there are a few differences between Waze Carpooling and Scoop:
