Logged Trips Help Those in Need
Commute for a Cause helps local families
At Go Redmond, we truly love helping people find the commute that works for each person’s unique life. Whether it’s getting started with transit, finding resources for bicycling, or locating a match for a car or vanpool, when commuters log their trips in their Go Redmond calendars we can continue to provide resources and incentives to keep everyone moving.
We developed “Commute for a Cause” to encourage people to log their trips and to give back to our Redmond community. So far, February’s Commute for a Cause has already logged 431,155 out of our 750,000 goal. We are also pleased to note, one of the top options selected by our winners of January’s Monthly Incentives drawings was to donate their $25 credit towards ORCA passes for those in need.
750,000 miles = 7,500 bus passes
Join the Challenge!
Your smart commute trips help our Redmond Community. Last time we ran a Commute for a Cause challenge we were able to partner with a local organization that works with survivors of domestic violence. Often times, the individuals and families only have public transit to get them from point A to B.
In one case, a family had been able to build a community of support and safety in Redmond. Unfortunately, the family had no transportation of their own and often struggled to find the funds to meet their family’s’ transportation needs. The adult survivor relied solely on public transportation to meet her family’s basic needs, get to and from medical appointments, and attend school meetings and activities for her child.
The family was on a limited income each month and transportation costs add up very quickly. With the miles matched from Commute for a Cause our partner organization was able to help the family heal and cut their transportation costs down.
Your pledged miles really do make a difference.
It’s not too late to take the pledge, log your trips on your Go Redmond calendar and Commute for a Cause! We’re over halfway there so log your trips today!
