Plan ahead for the closure starting April 29th by jumping in an existing vanpool.

From King County Metro:

If you haven’t heard by now, the Alaska Way Viaduct will be closing for two weeks starting on Friday, April 29.

This closure is going to be a doozy.  Congestion is expected to impact travel beyond the SR 99 and I-5 corridors and mess up the east side as well.

This is a great chance for you to try out a Metro vanpool or vanshare and beat the Alaska Way Viaduct closure.  You can ride FREE in any King County Metro van with availability for the duration of the closure (April 29, 2016 thru May 13, 2016).

Create a Ridematch trip in your account and see if an existing commuter van matches your schedule.  Confirm availability with the group’s contact, arrange your ride and complete the Ticket to Ride.  It’s that easy!

Vans offering a ride can earn $50 from King County Metro

If you’re looking to take the King County Water Taxi during the closure, use vanshare to get from your home to the Seacrest Ferry Dock or from Pier 50 to your workplace.  Not only are we offering you free vanshare (which conveniently includes gas, insurance and maintenance), but you will also receive free reserved vanshare parking at the Don Armeni Boat Ramp or near Pier 50.

For more information on these and other promotions we are offering during the viaduct closure, visit our Rideshare Rewards page.

Check out your other travel options on Metro's Get Ready page.

WSDOT will be providing construction updates on their website at www.99closure.org and via the hashtag #99closure. WSDOT also has a great website where you can Follow Bertha.
